Have you ever met a married couple that got along so well, you assumed they couldn't possibly be married? Let's not reflect on what that says about the average married couple, and instead focus on how extraordinary De'Andre and Kristina Robinson‘s partnership is. They bring that spark of life into their photography work at Dee and Kris Photography. Their images and aesthetic infuse a lust for life we have no doubt they bring to every shoot!
Kris, having been in film since college, jokes that she wanted to join forces with her husband due to the expense of his previous hobby, building race cars! However, in reality, she really just enjoys spending all the time she can with him. “I desired to work with my husband and didn't want to miss out on seeing him. So, I decided that I would shoot with him and enjoy shooting with him. We have fun together and our clients constantly see us smiling and flirting with each other during the day.”
Dee returns the sentiment with equal amounts of affection for spending time with Kris and their two boys. “I needed a career path that would put me closer to home where I could be around my family and photography gave me that freedom to do so. After 5 years of traveling up and down the Central Valley I put in my two weeks and never looked back!”
While there are struggles to being married and running a small business together, Dee and Kris seem to have mastered the ability to focus on the benefits. One is the support of those around them. From the photography community, Chase Jarvis and Sue Bryce have pushed Dee and Kris Photography to be adventurous and smart in their craft. While Chase was pushing for their artistic eye “to create bold images.” Sue was able to help the photography team “to always market your business especially during the slow season.” Dee and Kris have taken these lessons to heart. You can see from their large portfolio of work they have merged their playful, loving personalities with the boldness that Chase had guided them toward. And when we asked De'Andre and Kristina how they would advise new photographers, they put forth Sue's advice that has worked so well for them. “Marketing is key to run a successful business.”
We are so grateful to have Dee and Kris in our Showiteer community. Anyone can see they are talented photographers and savvy business owners. We feel fortunate enough to be in community with them so we can celebrate who they are. Recently, we got to celebrate with them as they shared the wonderful news that Kris put in her two weeks notice to be a full-time photographer!
“It is a huge leap of faith, but we feel the time has come to take the step forward for the good of our family and clients.” While it must be scary, we have no doubt that the Robinson family will thrive right along side Dee and Kris Photography!
You can continue to follow Dee and Kris Photography through their website, blog, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. We are so happy to share their joy as they embark on this new adventure! Best of luck, guys! We will be here cheering you on the whole way!
