Well, this is IT! The last month of the year, which just means we have some new and fun recommendations for you! These might not be the most recent on the “publication calendar”, but it's what our team has been into this last month.

We all have our “go-to” playlists for when we need to get things done or that movie we watch over and over again because it just brings us so much joy. Some of us even have a site we always land on for creative inspiration or new ideas. Your Creative Curations if you will.

So here is our list of creative curations, the best places we have found inspiration when we just need to finish those projects or when we need a good laugh.

Our favorites (books, music, TV Shows, podcasts, movies, influencers, etc.) for December 2024.

December's Best Music

We love listening to music and, of course, we all have different preferences so here are 3 of our most favorite songs/artists this month.

  • The Holiday [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] by Hans ZimmerI'm a big fan of anything composed by Hans, but this one specifically is awesome for this season. It's appropriately playful, gentle, and infused with holiday spirit.

December's Best Books

  • How (Not) To Be Secular- It's incredibly insightful for understanding where we are as a culture and how we got here.
  • The Holiday Mix-UpWhat a cute story! It's a perfect “While you were sleeping” retelling and I loved it!

December's Best Podcasts

Creative Curations
  • Rich Habits PodcastFinancial literacy podcast that helps lay out the blueprint for you to succeed with money.
  • Live in Love with Lauren Akins podcast- This life-giving podcast is incredibly uplifting and encourages everyone to live in love in every aspect of your life (marriage, community, family, adoption, purpose, friendship, etc)
  • No Dumb Questions- No Dumb Questions with Destin Sandlin and Matt Whitman is a delightfully random podcast I've discovered recently. From two best friends who happen to be both brilliant and humble, topics on this pod range from complex physics equations, to hilarious childhood stories, to history, logical fallacies and friendly debates about (in)significant issues. 10/10 for a fun but insightful listen. Episode Rec: Matt and Destin Go to a Pro Wrestling Match

December's Best Movies/TV Shows

Watch some good TV and relax
  • Fireplace for your home (on Netflix)Instant coziness at the click of a button.
  • The Best Christmas Pageant Ever- It's a fun “instant classic” family-friendly Christmas movie.
  • Our Little Secret (on Netflix)- It's not Oscar material, but it's definitely a laugh-out-loud, entertaining flick. Perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon, especially after Thanksgiving. I grabbed some coffee, hot chocolate, or whatever Diet Coke, and settled into my chaise lounge. I totally recommend it! It's great for some chuckles and has a few twists and turns that caught me off guard, even though I expected the typical boy-meets-girl ending.
  • The Diplomat (on Netflix)This series had me hooked from episode one. Imagine diving into the chaotic world of diplomacy, with international crises brewing and tensions rising among unforgettable characters. It’s like being a fly on the wall in the world’s most intense political drama. It's so good and season 2 was just released a few weeks ago!

December's Best Websites/Apps

  • Giftful– This is a very very helpful app, especially during the Holiday gifting season! Create and manage your wishlists from anywhere. Giftful lets you claim friends' wishes without them knowing what's been claimed. That way, when you give them their gift, they're truly surprised.
